Match the object before comparing the value

Check the full game title, edition, jackpot family and tier. Two games can connect to one network; two tiers on one game can have different pool boundaries. A number labelled Major in one title need not represent the same mechanism as Major in another.

Next establish the kind of observation. A historical announced award and a meter display are not competing current balances. Neither should be placed in a largest-now ranking without evidence that supports that specific comparison.

A currency symbol is not always a currency definition

The dollar symbol alone is ambiguous. EUR, USD and CAD are distinct units, and a provider may publish an equivalent rather than the original payout currency. A ledger should distinguish those cases instead of assuming geography from a symbol.

Our WowPot milestone records the provider’s EUR equivalent and says that the original currency and conversion rate are not supplied. Its decimal precision reproduces the report; that precision does not turn the equivalent into an independently verified original-currency payout.

Keep three dates apart

An event date says when the reported outcome happened. A publication date says when the source announced it. A checked date says when the editorial desk examined that source. All three can be valid at once, and each answers a different reader question.

For a true display observation, the time zone also matters. An unzoned time such as “today at 10” cannot reliably order observations across countries. We do not invent a precise time where a historical announcement provides a date only.

Do not conceal assumptions in sorting

A converted ranking needs a disclosed rate, rate date, rounding policy and original units. Without them a sort order can look objective while silently mixing observations. We provide provider, type and title sorting instead of ranking amounts with unsupported conversion assumptions.

A useful manual comparison can stop before arithmetic: if the objects, units or dates do not match, mark the comparison unresolved. This avoids implying that a larger displayed figure means better odds, a larger personal return or permission to participate. Amounts are records; the applicable rules still determine what a game offers.
